- i guess everyone was thrown by the lazer pen thing. the most high tech gadget i take is my fishing pole, everything else is pretty run of the mill knife, fork, spoon. oh yeah, one time i took a spork. that's pretty much the high water mark for me. it seems like you want to take the in to the out, most of us are glad to be away from all that. i'm 48 and that's not that old but, i still remember when you had to open a tin soda can with a can opener. i think people are just trying to get back there somehow. hope you get a better answer but, this is all i got and i don't think anyone should be ignored.~~~*<>{
- Are the speakers brought along to bother everyone who is out enjoying nature?
- basics only the stuff you need to much wait just slows you down basics only what you need
- I like my little fork/knife/spoon gadget. It's vintage scout, and I found it on eBay. I also like my blast match, which is a great fire starting tool. I love my camel back fanny pack. And in my tent, my favorite thing is my lantern/fan. The batteries last forever! I love it! Next I want a back packing stove. I made one (hobo stove) but I want a little portable number.
- Sirius portable Satellite radio...its wonderful Also, a head lamp is very nice...leaves your hands free to work on whatever you need to in the dark.
- Check out these...I don't normally bring out the blender, but the press....always. http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442543365&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302696295&bmUID=1204989785354 http://camping.about.com/od/campinggear/ig/My-Camping-Gear/Vortex-Hand-Crank-Blender.htm Smoothies in the morning.
- I always take a Fan, it gets hot out there
- I always bring Mr. Torchy (a propane blowtorch) if I'll have my truck nearby. He's very useful for starting fires and can be used directly to warm up water in a hurry. A small radio is a nice touch but I despise people who feel they need to share their music with the whole forest.
- My "Cool Box Personal Air Conditioner", is great for those really hot days. It works off the built-in rechargeable batteries, AC adapter, Car Adapter, and 8 D cell batteries. It's a portable 3-in-1 cooling system that provides an ice breeze, water misting and powerful fan and holds up to 4 pounds of ice.
- We have put together a "camping kit". We got tired of forgetting stuff. It is a typical tackle box. In it, first aid stuff, sunscreen, wire, string, thread and needles, personal hygeine stuff, sponges, eyeglass fixer, magnifying glass, can openers, all kinds of knives, campers glue, tent sealer, scissors, bottle openers, LED head lamps, dish detergent, fire starters, bug spray, rain ponchos, flashlights, eating utensils, playing cards and more. We now never forget anything.
- How about a GPS? And a solar panel to recharge the batteries in your GPS. A laser pen? What is that for? Speakers? I hope you're not backpacking and I hope you don't camp next to me!
- batt powered can opener, extra batt, recharable spot light, a folding oven for my stove, fire starters, a box of fire logs, vac packed food,
- I usually go backpacking, so i don't carry a lot of extra stuff due to weight concerns. Some of my favorite items are: - my mini- head lamp - my gerber pack-axe - my army-issue canteen cup (perfect for that large cup of coffee) - esbit stove and esbit blocks (I build a fire at night, but the esbit stove is handy for heating up the morning coffee without having to build a fire, then put it out as soon as the water boils) - a small radio, sometimes - a cabela's candle lantern - it hangs nicely from that little hook most tents have on the ceiling - my water filter, of course - slumberjack bivvy shelter - depending on who I'm with, a couple of good cigars, and a flask of Maker's Mark Bourbon are nice to have, too.
- night goggles
