Were the "voice changing" headsets in the movie "Fun with Dick and Jane" real?

There is a really funny scene in "Fun with Dick and Jane" where they are in a guys house robbing him. Dick and Jane are wearing headsets that alter their voices. Are these gadgets real, what are they exactly and where can I get one?
