when does the severe weather season start for the mounttain states?

- Anytime from January 1 to December 31, literally. "Severe" is subjective. But if you mean freezing wintery weather, yes, that can happen anytime of the year in the high mountains. I've seen snow 6" in Colorado at 6500 ft elevation in June. In Montana, 4" at 7000 ft elevation in July. The biggest snowfalls start around October 1 through roughly April 15. .
- It depends what you consider severe weather and where you are in Colorado. For snow, thw worst months for the enitr state are usualy between January and March but it starts earler for the mountains (as most of Colorados 5 million residents live on the front range and not in the mountains). And our tornado season and thunderstorn season will be the worst usualy between July and September. Weld County especialy!
