If I want to learn to build cool gadgets and vehicles what should I go to school for?

I want to build something like a rocket powered skateboard or a flying glider like on spiderman 3. I'm not some young kid who's fantasizing I just want to build things and sell them I want that to be my occupation

1. I can hear the Wright Brothers discussing this same thing a few years ago..Oh they may have used different nouns in place of spider-man or gadget but i bet they were just as eager to accomplish ,with bravado the same tasks...They did it all with a minimum of understanding of what they were doing they didn't use the NET or have a book on aerodynamics or even really understand how to guide the plane but their gadget got us here to this point...Me answering this question....So if you want to build a rocket powered skateboard and you feel up to the challenge i would never say to you "you can't do it" because I KNOW you can do it. With the right training and the right use of that training you might even be doing it on MARS. Go for it,,, fantasy is what tomorrows are made of....From the E...

6. Many universities have programs that combine mechanical and aerospace engineering and that sounds like a good match for those sorts of products. You might also want to look at automotive engineering which has strong aerodynamic components.
