If I want to learn to build cool gadgets and vehicles what should I go to school for?

I want to build something like a rocket powered skateboard or a flying glider like on spiderman 3. I'm not some young kid who's fantasizing I just want to build things and sell them I want that to be my occupation

The days of the inventors like Edison are over.Gadgets are far more sophisticated and require advanced mathematics training. The technician today is doing what the engineer used to do.Today's inventions require advanced testing facilities.Look at today's inventions and the skill that was required. You don't have to go to college but vocational schools are much more sophisticated than yesterday.Look into an engineering technology degree or two year degree. If you invent the atomic bomb you need to take liberal arts courses to help you decide if you need to drop it just because you built it.You also need business courses to know how to market it once you build it as well as raising funds to finance it.We used to build our race cars at the junk yard and win local drag races but today's cars with computer controlled ignitions are beyond the capabilities of junk yard mechanics and smog regulations.
  9. Study Mechanical Engineering. At your age, study hard your math and science. It will help you later. Good Luck
