What can I do to update my laptop with the latest technologies in hardwares?
My laptop is toshiba m35-s359. I just bought it around December 2003 so yeah it is that old. Its specifics followed as: intel pentium M processor 1400 MHz and 1.40 Ghz, 512 MB of RAM. The graphic card is really old as it is only Nvidia geForce FX Go5200. THe question is what are things I should know about the things the things that I dont know, ha? Okay, the point is I just want my laptop to be on up-to-date with the latest hardware and preferably at affordable price range. Sorry if i cant be more specific at this point but do treat me like a complete newbie when it comes to laptop. So I like to play games on laptop, watch videos on nba, youtubing. Also use it for homeworks, adobe flash MX, dreamweaver. I like to have video and internet and maybe chatting programs in mulitple windows at the same time. Hope I was specific enough for you to point what I should get. Thanks.

- well you got graphics, its good but not to good. i suggest you get higher memory. i say about 1 gb. that will increase your preformnce in all aplications on ur laptop. also their isnt much u can do with a laptop besides hard drive and memory. also never update your old driversfor graphics . for some odd reason the game play tends to drop alot with new drivers for graphic cards. You need a good antivirus to protect your pc and a firewall. antivirus is a program tha protects your pc from dangerous sickness. just liek us humans we got the cold, feavor chicken pox etc... and pc has the same but in data form. firewall will protect you from hackers, and protecting you from people trying to steal your personal intormation like credit cards numbers and ssi numbers. get avg free edition and pc firewall tools for free.Install antivirus first then when it askes you to restart dont. use option later, and install the firewall then restart. after that update your antivirus then do a full computer scan. go to www.newegg.com for good laptop deals
- Because notebook computers are designed, specifically, to be portable, upgrading options for its hardware will be very limited, if not non-existent. This is because its components are crammed into a smaller case (than a desktop computer). The components are integrated (soldered) onto the motherboard. Some models of notebooks may only allow you to change the RAM and nothing else. Some models will have no hardware-upgrade options without you ripping apart the motherboard and re-soldering components. You described yourself as a "newbie" and mentioned the word "affordable", so unless you have a very good friend who is an electronics expert in the computer field, then upgrading an old notebook computer can become extremely pricey. Check with the user-manual for your model. If there are any upgrade options available, then it will show you step-by-step how to do this. If there's no step-by-step, then the manufacturer of your computer probably does not intend for casual users to do any hardware upgrades on their own.
- With that system, there are only two things that can easily be changed. One is the RAM, which may be maxed out already because of design. The Toshiba support web site can give that information. With tech support, you can change the hard drive to a larger size. Hate to say it, but for what you want I would say a new system with 2G of RAM. The basic system will probably cost $800-$1400 depending on video and processor as well as screen. Sorry.
